Without functioning protection, a pressure drop or back-siphonage event could pull pollutants, chemicals, or non-potable water into the drinking water system, posing a serious public health risk. Annual testing also keeps buildings compliant with NYC DEP requirements, avoiding violations and ensuring the assemblies still perform as designed.
